Can I Transfer My Privacy Bee License to Another Account or Person?

A common question from Privacy Bee users is: “If I’ve already purchased a license, can I transfer it to someone else or move it to another account?”

The short answer is no. Privacy Bee licenses are non-transferable. However, there’s an important reason behind this policy, and there are better alternatives if you’re trying to protect an additional person.

Why license transfer is not allowed

Privacy is not a one-time sweep; it’s an ongoing, adaptive process. Privacy Bee continuously tracks new data exposures, sends fresh removal requests, and builds a long-term privacy history around a single identity profile.

Because of that:

  • Each license is tied to one individual’s data footprint and removal history
  • The system uses this history to avoid duplicate submissions, track compliance, and escalate escalations over time
  • Transferring the license to someone else would break that identity-specific protection cycle
  • For legal and technical accuracy, data removal authorizations must align with one verified account owner

So it’s not about restricting you; it’s about maintaining efficiency, legal validity, and maximizing privacy impact tied to one permanent identity profile.

What you can do: change your email/account details

Although the core license itself is not transferable, Privacy Bee does allow some modifications to your account and contact information. For example:

  • You can add or update email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, and alias names via the Identity Vault in your account.
  • The system will send you a one-time verification code for new email addresses or phone numbers, to ensure security.
  • While you cannot hand over your account entirely, you can maintain up-to-date contact information for communications, billing, and alerts under your own credentials.

Changing your email is a common and supported action; it lets you remain the license holder while updating how Privacy Bee reaches or identifies you.

Want to Protect Someone Else? Use Multi-Person Discounts Instead

If your goal is to cover a spouse, family member, or partner, the best option is to add a secondary person under your plan. Privacy Bee offers discounted multi-person coverage, so each individual still gets:

  1. Their own dedicated profile.
  2. Personalized data removal history.
  3. Individual monitoring and ongoing clean-ups.
  4. Separate legal authorization trail for privacy requests.

This ensures full-strength protection for each person - without breaking the identity integrity that keeps the service effective.

If in doubt - or if a special case arises - your best course is to contact Privacy Bee support directly. They can clarify whether an exception might be possible (though it typically won’t be).
