What is the Search Presence Scan?

Overview

The Search Presence Scan shows where your information appears across major search engines and helps identify results that may need removal.

The scan reviews results from:

  • Google
  • Bing
  • Yahoo
  • Yandex

If your information appears on a People Search Site or its affiliates, the result is automatically escalated for removal unless the site lacks an opt-out path or is identified as unresponsive.

About non-compliant sites

Some Data Brokers ignore or block opt-out requests. To learn more, see "Understanding Non-Compliant Data Brokers: When Opt-Outs Are Ignored".

Managing Search Presence Scan Results

From the Search Presence page, you can review individual results and decide how to handle them.

Available actions:

  • Request Removal (right side of the screen)
  • Preserve a result if it is not about you or you want to keep it visible (left side of the screen)

You can view:

  • Active Results
  • Removed Results
  • Preserved Results
  • Show Timeline (Removals)

Accidental Preserve?

If a result was marked as "Preserve" in error, you can reinstate it. Reinstating a result automatically triggers a removal request.

This feature allows you to control which results you want removed and which you prefer to keep visible - such as a personal blog or professional content you want people to find.
