How to Manage Your Limited Power of Attorney
Overview:
The Limited Power of Attorney (LPoA) authorizes Privacy Bee to act as your representative for privacy-related requests. This article explains what it is, why it matters, and how to sign or revoke it.
What is the Limited Power of Attorney?
Privacy Bee's Limited Power of Attorney is a document that gives Privacy Bee permission to communicate and submit privacy requests - such as data deletion and opt-out requests - on your behalf.
It is extremely limited in scope. It does not grant control over your finances, legal decisions, or anything outside of privacy-related requests.
Is It Required?
No. Signing the LPoA is completely optional. However we strongly recommend it.
Signing the LPoA has been shown to increase successful deletions by 10-20%. Some data brokers will only honor removal requests when accompanied by a signed LPoA - and we have seen a growing number of People Search Sites adopting this requirement as well. It is no longer limited to Data Broker subtypes.
The more removal pathways Privacy Bee has available on your behalf the better your results will be over time. Signing takes less than a minute and can be revoked at any time.
What About Two-Factor Authentication?
If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your account you will need to complete that verification step before you can access and sign your LPoA. Make sure you have access to the device or email address associated with your 2FA before starting.
If you are having trouble receiving your verification code, check your spam folder and make sure privacybee.com is added to your safe sender list. If the issue persists Orwell and our support team can help.
