An exposure is an instance of your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) found online. This means your personal details - your name, address, phone number, email, date of birth, and more - have been found on a data broker site, people search site, or other online source where they can be viewed publicly or purchased for just a few dollars.
Exposures are more common than most people realize. Data brokers collect and publish personal information about millions of people without their knowledge or consent. The information sitting on these sites can be used by telemarketers, scammers, and anyone else willing to look.
What Happens When an Exposure is Found?
When Privacy Bee identifies an exposure, the action taken depends on your license:
- Paid License (Essentials, Pro, or Signature Services) - Privacy Bee automatically submits removal requests on your behalf and monitors to make sure your information stays removed.
- Free Scan Only Account - Privacy Bee will identify your exposures and provide step-by-step Deletion Guides to help you submit removal requests on your own.
