Are Family Members Covered Under My License?

This is one of the most common questions we hear from new users. The short answer is no - but here's what that means for your family and what your options are.


Each Person Needs Their Own License


Privacy Bee licenses are individual. Your Essentials, Pro, or Signature Services license covers you and your data only. It does not automatically extend to cover your spouse, partner, children, or any other family members you add to your account.


When you add a family member to your Family Protection page their information is saved as a contact. Adding them does not activate any protection on their behalf - it simply creates a space for them in your account.


What Happens When You Add a Family Member


Once you add a family member and they log in using the email address you provided, Privacy Bee automatically creates a Free Scan Only account for them. This means:


  • Privacy Bee will scan for their exposures
  • They will be able to see where their personal information appears online
  • They can use our Deletion Guides to manually submit removal requests themselves


However, automatic removal requests will not be submitted on their behalf until they have an active paid license.


How to Get Full Protection for a Family Member


To extend full Privacy Bee protection to a family member you have two options:


Option 1 - Purchase and assign a license You can purchase an additional license and assign it to your family member directly from your Billing page. This gives them the same level of automated protection as your own license tier.


Option 2 - They purchase their own license Your family member can create their own Privacy Bee account and purchase a license independently.
