How to Sign the Limited Power of Attorney for a Family Member

Overview:

Each family member needs to sign their own Limited Power of Attorney - it cannot be signed on their behalf. This article explains why and walks through exactly how to do it.

Why Each Person Must Sign Their Own LPoA

The Limited Power of Attorney authorizes Privacy Bee to submit privacy requests on behalf of a specific individual. Because it is a personal authorization it must be signed by the person whose data is being protected - not by the head of household or account owner.

If you are accessing a family member's account through the Family Protection page you may be in Impersonate Mode - a view only mode that does not allow you to sign documents on their behalf. This is by design.

How Your Family Member Can Sign Their LPoA

Your family member needs to log in to their own account to sign their LPoA. Here's how:

  • Visit privacybee.com and click Login
  • Enter their email address
  • Retrieve the one-time verification code from their inbox and enter it
  • Once logged in go to Account Settings
  • Click the Limited Power of Attorney tab
  • Read the document carefully
  • Type their name exactly as it appears in the first sentence of the document
  • Click the blue Sign Form button

That's it - their LPoA is now signed and active.

What If They Can't Access Their Email?

The one-time verification code is sent to the email address associated with their account. If they are having trouble receiving it ask them to check their spam or junk folder and make sure privacybee.com is added to their safe sender list.
