Why Am I Getting More Spam Calls and Emails After Signing Up?

Why am I getting more spam calls and emails after signing up?

This is one of the most common questions we hear from new users - and it's understandably frustrating. Here's what's actually happening.

Signing up with Privacy Bee does not cause an increase in spam. What you're likely experiencing is a coincidence of timing combined with something that was already in motion long before you signed up.

Data brokers have been collecting and sharing your personal information for years. The spam calls and emails you're receiving now are the result of that accumulated exposure - not anything Privacy Bee triggered. In many cases new users simply become more aware of the problem after signing up because they're paying closer attention.

What Privacy Bee is doing about it: Privacy Bee is actively submitting removal requests to the data brokers and marketing databases responsible for distributing your contact information. As those removals are confirmed the volume of unwanted contacts should decrease over time.

What you can do in the meantime: Make sure your Controls & Preferences settings are configured to include marketing opt-outs. This tells Privacy Bee to submit opt-out requests to marketing databases that use your contact information for outreach. You can find this in the Controls & Preferences tab under Account Settings.

**Results won't be immediate: **Data brokers take time to process requests and marketers don't update their lists overnight. But the work is happening and it compounds over time.
